My new hair style

My friend Bea created a new look for me:

This morning on Shela beach

Yesterday outside Bea's Hair saloon

Turtles emerging from their nest

I joined a group of tourists at the last moment to see baby turtles making their way from the nest to the Indian Ocean here's my vid...

Maasai Warriors and I

While chilling on the beach, I saw these two men coming my way, I stopped them and asked if I could take their photos.

Johnathan has killed lions he showed me the scar on his knee from his fight with one.

It's a real shame England doesn't have a rites-of-passage for it's young males to transition into Manhood!

Football

Hi yah Marcey and friends I went to a football match 3 days ago, I was one of only 4 women in attendance.  Yes we were all Westerner's.  The game was alrite, a little argie-bargie went on when the Ref, didn't give a penalty or free-kick who knows - not I.  The Game stopped for about half an hr, alot of debating and crowding went on.  As you can see the pitch was very dry and dusty, the monsoon should be here in a month making the pitch lush, flourishing and green to rival CFC....

Here's a few shots I took not at goal...hahaha

The score was 1-0 to Shela who played in blue
sorry i don't know the name of the other team

...What I like.

A great aspect of living in Lamu; when I'm ill (like I was a couple days ago - nothing too serious) or come in from a late night - that our cook/chef; Anthony prepares our breakfast.

Today I had my usual brekkie that consisted of; a bowl of tropical fruit salad, Swahili porridge, one pancake with plum jam, water, tea, and fresh tropical juice.

Man it was/is so welcome!

Me and the Stars...

Living in the Southern hemisphere is really cool, at night I look up to the right of the sky and see the "Southern Cross" a collection of 4 stars; (that to me looks like a rectangle rather than a cross).  Next to it, is the "Milky Way".  Mind blowing stuff to witness with my own eyes each night.

Info I found on the net talking about the Milky Way:

The Milky Way system is a spiral galaxy consisting of over
400 billion stars , plus gas and dust arranged into three general components:
  • The halo - a roughly spherical distribution which contains the oldest stars in the Galaxy,
  • The nuclear bulge and Galactic Center.
  • The disk, which contains the majority of the stars, including the sun, and virtually all of the gas and dust

AND

The Milky Way is a barred spiral galaxy 100,000–120,000 light-years in diameter containing 200–400 billion stars. The galaxy is estimated to contain at least as many planets, 10 billion of which could be located in the habitable zone of their parent star.[14] Depending on its structure the entire galaxy has a rotational rate of once every 15 to 50 million years. The galaxy is also moving at a velocity of 552 to 630 km per second, depending on the relative frame of reference. It is estimated to be about 13.2 billion years old, nearly as old as the Universe. The Milky Way is part of the Local Group of galaxies.

Last Night

Last night I went to a dinner party, at least 25 people were in attendance, I got to know 3 or 4 new people.

Our host put on a feast of food - there were 3 lantern/candle lit tables with about 7 places/seats outside in his garden of tropical flora.

The menu was immense; dhall(lentils), prawn curry, rice, poppadoms, chapatis, leg of roast lamb, pasta with toms and capers, white snapper, tomato/basil and mozzarella salad, I can't remember what else I ate or what was on offer.  I had 2 platefuls of food.

For desert; I tucked into fruit salad with mascarpone cheese topped with chocolate powder.
I didn't have cheese and crackers or any wine, I stuck with water.

After eating my buddies and I danced to a lot of rock music, I really got my groove on when I played Madonna's tune "Give it to me" - not my kind of music but its was "proper danceable" and Prince's "Kiss".  I had a good time on the dance floor and at the dinner-party.

Jeremy and I got home at 2am...
